What’s for dinner Sheriff?

What’s for dinner Sheriff?

Well in Polk County the Sheriff has a new menu in place for his inmates.

Due to recent budget cuts the inmates in Polk County will feel the effect of the cuts.

The Sheriff has a new menu in place and looks like the inmates are going back to crackers and water.

The Sheriff’s Office is attempting to slash their budget by $200,000 so the favorite foods are now a thing of the past.

Instead of peanut butter sandwiches, they now have meat sandwiches

Instead of cornbread with soup they now have a packet of crackers

Instead of coffee, tea, juice and chocolate milk they now have water

Instead of two fresh eggs, they now have a single egg
Instead of fresh milk they now have non-fat powdered milk

The sheriff says each inmate will still get between 2,300 and 2,800 calories each day.

The changes will save the Polk County Sheriff's Office $195,000 annually.

"These are tough budget times, and every penny we save is a penny we don't have to ask the taxpayer for," said Polk County sheriff Grady Judd. "If you don’t want to eat that, that's fine. Stay out of jail. The sheriff is now going to feed you crackers and soup and sandwiches, on day-old bread."
