AMBER Alert Issued For Tangena Hussain

Tangena Hussain, a Michigan 2-year-old of East Indian decent, went missing Thursday, October 2, 2008. The child was reported missing by Jamrul Hussain -- not one of the girl's relatives, despite their identical last names -- from a Detroit gas station around 9:30 p.m.

Jamrul Hussain told police he stopped at the gas station in order to fuel up, buy some gum, and to pick up some juice for Tangena. Surveillance tapes shows Jamrul enter the store at 9:02 p.m. and wander the aisles for several minutes. After leaving the store at 9:06 p.m., Jamrul came back in, claiming that Tangena was no longer in the car.

Police say Jamrul left the store and went to pick up Tangena's mother, Nilufa Begum, before returning to gas station. Once back at the gas station where Tangena disappeared, Jamrul and Nilufa asked multiple times if there were cameras on the side of the gas station, where the car had been parked.
Tangena was officially reported missing at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Hamtramck, Mich. Teen Reports A Ghastly Crime

The next morning, around 5:00 a.m., an AMBER Alert was issued for Tangena. As a result of the AMBER Alert, the case assumed significant news coverage.

After increased press regarding Tangena's disappearance, a local Hamtramck teenager made a horrifying claim: she believes Jamrul is responsible for her February 2008 kidnapping.

The 15-year-old reported having been kidnapped at gunpoint, held prisoner in a basement, and repeatedly raped. Jamrul is not the only one accused in the teenager's kidnapping: Manunur Rahman Khan and his wife, Hena Begum, have been arraigned on kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges.

After a torturous week, the 15-year-old girl was released and told to keep quiet, or she and her family would die, she was told.

According to police, Jamrul made statements claiming he was married to the teenager at the time of the incident. The Hamtramck Police Department has pressed several charges against Jamrul Hussain, including Criminal Sexual Conduct, Kidnapping, and Felony Firearm charges.

Amid the disturbing accusations, the fact remains that Tangena Hussain has yet to be recovered. Tangena was last seen wearing a brown, long-sleeved T-Shirt with an unknown cartoon character on it, white nylon cargo pants, and gold sandals.
Authorities need your help in order to locate the missing 2-year-old, who may be in imminent danger.
