Jesse Trautman arrested again

At the time Jesse Trautman was 17 years old and he managed to get arrested for charges related to a shooting in May.

Apparently the shooting stemmed from a fight at Palm Bay High School. Trautman was arrested on charges related to First Degree Attempted Murder.

Trautman failed to turn over the weapon used to spray bullets into a crowded park and police felt like he was still a threat to the community.

Police tried to persuade the judge to keep Trautman in jail where be belonged. Especially since he knew where the gun was and refused to turn it over to police. What do you think the judges’ response was to the danger to the community plea?

You got it, the judge set him free. Trautman was released in less than 12 hours after his arrest.

Not a bad deal, get charged with crimes related to attempted first degree murder, agree to wear an electronic monitor, get out of jail…

What was that judge thinking? People talk about problems in the system, here’s a prime example of problems in the system. The judge himself released a potentially dangerous person back to the community. Wonder if the kid had been 18 at the time if he would have been so lenient with him.

Not the part that really makes no sense is the 15 year old that was charged with Trautman was ordered to be held in custody. Granted I wasn’t in court and not sure what transpired during the arraignment but why would you release 1 person and keep the other in jail?

Just makes no sense. Especially when the mom, Lisa Lambert said “my son has never been in trouble before, he’s an excellent kid” Maybe he was an excellent kid right up to the time elected to get arrested for attempted first degree murder.

Anyway, back to Trautman…

His freedom was short lived. Jesse Trautman, now 18, has been arrested again.

Reading some media reports said Jesse was laughing at his charges this time and why not. I mean what could be worse than walking from an attempted first degree murder charge? Could any other crime be as severe? Well maybe this one was pretty severe as I read about it all I could think of was they were trying to knock this kid out for a few bucks.

Now just so you know his laughter was about as short lived as his freedom, you’ll read why in just a minute.

Trautman had some friends over at his house and an argument took place between Trautman and a 17 year old. Trautman hit the kid in the chest with a brick and if that wasn’t bad enough his hit the kid over the head with a rock, still not bad enough… The kid was still fighting back so Trautman elected to strangle him while one of Trautmans friends stole $244 from the kid.

Trautman of course denied his involvement in this crime. But that was short lived also. Trautman later admitted his involvement in the crime according to the police.
Since Trautman is still awaiting trial for aggravated assault with a firearm in the May shooting, the judge got the last laugh this time.

The judge has now set a 1 million dollar bond for Trautman. I don’t think Trautman is laughing now.

Officers with the Crime Suppression Unit and Major Crimes Detectives said they would be at every hearing Trautman has. They want to see that he stays in jail.
The officers said “it’s a matter of public safety.”
