Ex SunStar Paramedic Patrick Livingston, now a convicted felon

Ex SunStar Paramedic Patrick Livingston, now a convicted felon

Patrick Livingston was in court on 10/15/2009 and his sentence was handed down.
The 39 year old x-paramedic was sentenced to 7.88Y/DO CTS 2D according to the clerks’ site.

Immediately after his sentence was handed down, Livingston was taken directly to jail.

Now I’m sure we can expect an appeal in this case since some are now saying there was no defense presented during the trial. One thing I can think of right off would be the fact that Livingston was detained all weekend without legal representation, but I guess we will have to wait and see if there is an appeal in this case.
Other than being detained, I’m not sure what they could have presented in the defense of his actions, after all the prosecution had the statements that Livingston made just after his arrest.

"The defendant stated post Miranda that this was not medically necessary” and happened as we were pulling into the parking lot at Bayfront Hospital.

Not only was there Livingston’s own statements, the judge was also quoted as saying “The inference is that he admitted to committing the offense," said Pinellas Co. Circuit Court Judge Donald Horrox.

One thing that was odd in his court records in additions to his fine he has to pay an amount of $256.00 in restitution. Is the victim claiming this incident cost her $256.00? The fines were in the amount of about $1,000.00 plus the $256.00.

Now it would be interesting to read the court transcript of this case to see if there was anything presented for the defendant during trial.

I guess the comments the defense did make right after his arrest had no baring in the case whatsoever.

The defense attorney said that Livingston was a community backbone and that Livingston had a great church and a great family. The attorney also went on to say this could have happened to anyone.

Now with any conviction we also have to think about those left behind, his wife and family. I feel especially bad for the families that have to deal with his conviction and was in no way a part of the crime, yet they will also pay the price.

In this case I do have mixed feeling because I know Patrick. I cannot recall ever working on the same truck as Patrick but I do know I would see him almost every day that I worked. I could never see him committing a crime like this, but the courts decided he was guilty.

I am Patrick's neice. We are only two months apart in age and my entire life all I remember is that Patrick wanted to be NOTHING else besides a Paramedic - my childhood memories of him were watching Emergency. This entire situation is appalling. My boyfriend is a Paramedic and if this could happen to such a wonderful upstanding church going family man - this can happen to ANYONE. Patrick - we love you and will stand by you to the bitter end. Your Sister Diane - both of your nieces and of course myself and my beautiful grandson Love you!

Thanks for your comment.

Like I said I could never see Pat doing something like this.

I wish the family the best of luck with an appeal or whatever action they decide to take in this case.

Pat is a good man and a good friend. He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. I have the privlage of knowing Pat through my brother in law Brien , who was also his partner for some years untill an accident took Brien away from the medical field. I believe in Pat and his judgment calls. We should all stand behind the employees of Sunstar, without them we wouldnt have ambulances to tend to our needs. I will proudly stand behind my friend.

I have had the great opportunity of working with Patrick in the five years I worked for Sunstar. He is a very dedicated Paramedic and knows how to treat a patient with repect and dignity. He lives by our moto out there on the street that says due no harm. Patrick keep your head up. As for your family keep your heads up and remain strong. I pray every day that justice will provail.

I got to know Patrick over the past few years. I was at his home the day that he was accused of the crime. Never would I believe that he could do that. It is a classic case of injustice.

I know Patrick well, his wife and I have been best of friends for years, I have known Patrick to be nothing but professional and he takes his job seriously. Compassionately providing a much needed public service, what would we do without people like him, yet while acting compassionately in his job he is accused, charged, tried and convicted? NO WAY is this Justice!
The Day after he was convicted I talked to his wife online in an voice activated IM on webcams, their little girl came up to her mommy to hug her and as I asked her how she was doing this little girl sobbed and cried and said "I just want my daddy back". How can anyone do this to a good decent family. I pray everyday that justice will prevail and Patrick will be released. Until then, we love you Patrick, we love your family and we will stand behind you 100%.

Also I should add that while in NY State, Patrick not only held a job as a paramedic, in addition the that employment he served as President of the local Volunteer Ambulance Corp., he lives and breathes to serve and help others, even while our families were out together in a blizzard he had to stop to help people who had slid off the road, his reputation has never been questioned, never investigated for anything and now he is behind bars, how did this happen???

And now an Innocent man sits in jail, needing medication, they decide to give him over 4 times the amount of medication he needs, which renders him unconscious, rushed to the hospital and back to jail, NOW, I ask you, why is that not a crime??? Let's see the person who did this charged with attempted murder? Will Patrick live long enough to appeal this case?

We Love you Patrick and we are praying for your safety as well as justice!

Thanks for all the comments.

Fist and foremost, rest assured I have the same feeling and could never see Pat doing something like this as I posted.

I also feel bad for the family. They have to suffer because of something like this.

If the jail did overdose him, seek legal help ASAP and it wouldn't hurt to call Bay News 9 and make it public.

Thanks again for all the comments and again I wish Patrick and family the best of luck....

I also am a friend and church brother of Patrick, and we are taking donations to help in his appeal, this man did nothing wrong, the system failed him and if we let that happen it will fail us all. We have found a lawyer that is attempting the appeal process, this injustice needs to go public, tell everyone you know about what the system has done, the worthless attoney he had Joseph Hobson should be disbarred from practicing law the officers that twisted the so call confession should be arrested for contempt. we have to get this out to the media and I intend to try please help, contact your news media and and tell them the story. This is such an injustice, pray for Patrick and another thing the so call victims story needs to be made public about the drug use and her past arrests. Sunstar should also be ashamed of not taking care of one there finest Paramedic that needs to be made public also, justice will prevale.

Thanks for the comment. I dont know who you are or if you are actually working with Pat's wife to get something set up or not...

I may do another post of his case and include some of the stuff you talked about, but first and foremost I would need to hear from Pat himself.

I posted from the start I have mixes feelings about this case. Knowing and working with Pat, I really could not see him doing this... But at the same time there is the matter of his statement and stating what he done was not medically needed in the treatment of a patient.

Granted if I knew the females name that said this took place, I would re-search her name through the court system.. Because if that is true about her then I think that would need to be taken into consideration during appeal.

Anyway, I will try to contact Pat's wife and see if this is something she is interested in working on to accept donation for Pat.

Thanks again for your comments and I look forward to hearing from you or any of the Livingstons.

I will provide you my email if you want to email or you may call me and we will talk before any other post are completed about this case.

i know patrick very well and i just talked to his wife on sunday and showed my support , i am a service missionary in the rochester palmyra new york mission and i know for a fact he is innocent .it just breaks my heart to see my friends struggling like this and all i am able to do is show support for them and put their names on the prayer roll and i have fasted and prayed for patrick and his family 2 days for the past few weeks , and learning about all of this makes me just want to sit down and cry. i feel he didnt get a fair trial and neither did his family in that case. i cant even imagine what the kids are going through right now. and i know there are lawsuits against that kind of behavior within the jail system. that is under the category of police and prison corruption. patrick , gwen , brieanna and brett alyssa and the rest of you guys , i love you i will keep you in my prayers and continue to show my support.
