On Tuesday Andre Warner, 18, was shot twice at the mall.
Apparently Andre Warner was shot over wearing a bandana.
The victim and suspect began to exchange insults related to each others “gang” affiliation. The victim is with the “bloods” and the suspect is with the “Crips” According to police the two men did not know each other. The insults turned to violence and ended with Warner being shot.
According to some media reports police are not calling this a gang related incident and they do not expect any retaliation.
Lakeland Police have made an arrest in the case. Ariel Scott, 18 has been arrested. Police continue to search for the other people involved in the incident. Scott has been identified as the gunman.
It was reported that Warner was hit twice (Once in the arm and once in the chest).
No one else was injured in the incident.
Now the sad part of the incident is the victim is refusing to cooperate with police. He is still in the hospital. I guess he wants to stand true to his colors and gang, the bloods.
Wonder how much more "blood" he has to loose before he wakes up and realizes that he could have died in this incident. He should be thankful he has another chance to be murdered.

According to the Arrest Affidavit Ariel Scott has been charged with
1) Attempted 2nd Degree Murder with Firearm
2) Shooting within a Public Building
3) Carrying Concealed Firearm
Ariel Scott was in court this morning and the judge refused to set bail because of the nature of this crime.

THIS IS ANOTHER UNFORTUNATE INCIDENT THAT SHOULD OF NEVER HAPPENED. I WISH THEY WOULD BAN GUNS! I HAVE READ SEVERAL ONLINE REPORTS ABOUT THIS SITUATION AND I FEEL THAT ANDRE IS DEFINATELY AFFILATED WITH A GANG GIVEN THE FACTS HE HAD BLOODS ATTIRE ON. THE OTHER MAN WASN'T WEARING GANG CLOTHING. SO TO CALL IT A GANG RELATED SHOOTING IS SIMPLY CRAZY. HAVING A KNIFE AND ADVANCING TOWARDS MR. SCOTT MAKES ME BELIEVE THAT ANDRE HAD INTENTIONS TO STAB HIM RATHER THAN FIGHT HIM. I BELIEVE MR. SCOTT PRODUCED THE GUN AND STARTED SHOOTING WHILE RUNNING OUT OF FEAR. TO ME THIS WAS SELF DEFENSE, AND NOT ATTEMPTED MURDER. EITHER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT ONE OF THESE MEN WERE GOING TO TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. VERY VERY SAD THAT THESE YOUNG BLACK MEN FALL IN THE HANDS OF THE DEVIL. TOO MANY OF OUR BLACK MEN AND BOYS ARE INCARCERATED FOR A FOOLISH ACT!
I agree this is sad.
I don't think banning weapons would work.
But one thing that may work is for the parents to take a more pro-active approach with their children.
I could not agree with you more. far too many people are in jail for foolish acts.
