Michigan teen gets life in prison for murder.
A Michigan teen was in court on Friday October 31 and has been given life in prison with the chance for parole in 20 years.
Kristina Adkins, 16, pleaded guilty to second degree murder on October 10.
The teen in court claimed she had been mistreated by her grandmother. (Wonder what she claims to be mistreatment?)
So what did the teen do? Adkins at the age of 13 elected to poison her grandmother.
Adkins drug of choice for the poisoning was morphine.
The judge elected not to buy into the mistreatment claim and kept the sentence the same. The judge could have elected to send Adkins to a juvenile facility until she was 21, but the judge elected to give Adkins an adult sentence to life in prison.
Sadly she does have the possibility of parole in 20 years.
A court official said Adkins was emotional and crying. The official also stated that he thought “she realized some serious consequences were going to hit.”
The court official also stated that he judge had received numerous letters from family members supporting a light sentence and an equal amount of letters supporting a severe sentence.
The judge elected to pursue the severe adult sentence for this teen. Thankfully the judge did take severe measures with a murderer.
