Officer Down. Deputy Dennis Compton killed in the line of duty
Colleton County Deputy Dennis Compton, 39, was shot and killed when he responded to a home burglary alarm in the Smoaks, SC community. As policy the alarm company notified 911 and a key holder. Deputy Compton arrived on scene and approximately 20 minutes later the key holder arrived.
The key holder found Deputy Compton shot to death. The key holder then used Deputy Compton’s portable radio and notified dispatch an officer was down.
The Sheriff of Colleton County has held some press conferences and he told the community there are two persons of interest in this case.
The Sheriff said there are about 100 officers, ten different agencies, a fugitive team, an aviation unit and state law enforcement searching the remote areas in the Smoaks community for the gunman and any evidence.

Please observe a moment of silence in memory of Colleton County Dennis Compton
Deputy Compton was described as one of the best deputies in the sheriff’s office.
Compton was recently married and he has four children. Compton moved from Virginia to take a job as a jailer. Compton then filled his childhood dream of becoming a law enforcement officer.
Colleton County has not dealt with an officer being killed on duty in 31 years.

my cousin was working through his vacation to give his sister away at her wedding wich she failed to tell him she had already married without him. also there was a t-shirt found at the scene with a womens blood on it. no one knows who she is as of yet. also Dennis wasn't suppose to be the officer that was dispatched to this call was he set up i don't know but it seems that way and the people in questioning haven't been charged with the murder of Dennis they only have suspects they are questioning and more in mind but none of that matters because it won't bring him back to his family. As for the donations to the bank his children have seen nothing they live in Virginia and thats who will suffer the most those are the facts!!!!
he was shot with a pump shot gun
Hey Some1whoknows
Thanks for the information.
I have not been on line a lot lately and have not been able to follow up with this case to see if anything new has been happening.
Interesting information though.
Thanks
