10 year old boy found dead in Elementary School bathroom.

Aquan Lewis, 10, was a fifth grader at Oakton Elementary in EVANSTON, Ill.

Lewis was found hanging from a hook in a school bathroom.

The mother has reported that neither school nor police have given her any explanation for what they described as an accident.

Lewis’s mothers told media covering the story that she feels that her son had been dead for a while before he was even discovered since he was unaccounted for.

Apparently a janitor said that the boy had been removed from the hook and he had preformed CPR until the ambulance arrived.

In different media sources they are claiming different information.

One media source stated the matter was under investigation and that was the reason there was not a lot of details being released about the incident, while another media source said it was an accident and a third source has published that the hanging has been ruled a “suicide”.

Police stated it was an isolated incident and other children are not in danger.

The preliminary coroner’s office ruling said the 10 year old took his own life and it was a suicide.

This is sad, for a 10 year old boy to think the only answer would be death. If they leave this ruling as a suicide I could only hope they take a long hard look at the life of Aquan Lewis.

There had to be some serious problems in his home for a 5th grader to feel he had to end his own life to solve his problems.

It’s one thing to get involved in gangs, drugs, violence and lose your life or to lose a child to that type of activity, but it’s entirely different for a 10 year old to feel that he had no other options in life except to die.

In the course of the investigation I would also hope they take a close look at the school. One would hope in this day and age that some school officials would have been able to recognize at least some of the problems the child had in a social setting.

Please observe a moment of silence in the memory of Aquan Lewis and pray for the family and friends involved in this matter.

May God have mercy on his soul
