Starting Young in Palm Bay…

We hear every single day that someone has been arrested for possession of marijuana.

But we don’t hear a lot about the drug in grade schools and this case talks about the drug problem at Discovery Elementary School.

Police were tipped off that a 12 year old boy had marijuana in his possession. So the police ended up searching the 6th grader as he was walking home and guess what they found…

Yep, marijuana, pot, mary jane, 420, grass, weed or whatever you want to call it.

The boy had several small baggies of marijuana in his pockets.

The police said he got the marijuana from another 6th grader, who they think, in turn bought the marijuana from yet another 6th grader.

So we have 3 students so far in the 6th grade involved in a single drug arrest.

Police are now working on finding out who is supplying the marijuana to 6th graders.

I hope the suppliers are as stupid as they seem and get caught quickly. I know when I went through training at the academy they told us about dealers supplying kid to get them “hooked” at an early age to help improve their long term sales. But this is sickening to think a child is not in a drug free environment in elementary school.

And I can understand the need to expand any market and want to reach new customers but I don’t understand how they expect to make any profit from a 6th grader. It’s not like 6th graders have a lot of "extra" income to waste on something illegal.

Of course this also brings up questions along the lines of some of the other post...
Where are the parents? What's happening at home? Why is a 6th grader in possession of several baggies of marijuana?
