Wayne Tompkins put to death for his crimes

Well let’s just say the man convicted of murdering his girlfriend’s teenage daughter was executed.

The inmate: Wayne Tompkins.

He was pronounced dead on Wednesday at 6:32pm.

The crime:

15 year old Lisa DeCarr disappeared from her Tampa home on March 24, 1983.
Mom thought she had run away from home, however, a year later her body was found under the home’s porch.

Lisa DeCarr had been strangled with the belt from her pink bathrobe.

Even though the attorneys for Tompkins tried to get a stay of execution for Tompkins the courts denied Tompkins last minute appeals and carried out the execution.

Now the Innocence Project of Florida moves to preserve the evidence in the case.

They seem to think that they can do more DNA testing to prove that Tompkins was not the killer.

I wonder what more DNA testing they can do?

Did you notice the date that DeCarr disappeared? In March of 1983.

I wonder if the defense or Innocence Project is truly claiming that in the past 26 years they did not have enough time to perform any and all DNA testing possible?

The defense and Innocence Project should be happy that he was able to live for 26 years after he was convicted.

Does anyone know about this case? The evidence presented in court?
Would be interesting to learn more about this case.
