At least this time it wasn’t sex with a student, it was stealing from students.

That’s right a P.E. Teacher, Steven Simmons, 49, was busted for stealing from the students lockers.

Apparently over at North Marion High School there has been a problem for some time now with students having money stolen from their lockers.

Well some of the students decided they were sick and tired of being robbed at school and they decided to take some action and hopefully put a stop to the criminal activities taking place in the locker room.

The students’ actions paid off.

The students set up a cell phone video camera in the locker room with the hopes of catching the thief red handed.

And it wasn’t long after the camera started recording that they caught their very own P.E. teacher stealing from their lockers.

Within a matter of minutes after the students reviewed the tape, they were texting pictures of Steven Simmons in the act of stealing their money.

One student said the text messages and video clip was going around the school like crazy.

Soon after everyone in school (it seems) had a copy of the pictures/video the students turned the video over to the school resource officer.

The deputy took quick action and questioned Steven Simmons and of course as with any other criminal, he denied the accusations that he had been stealing from the students’ lockers.

But because the students were able to capture him on video, the police showed Simmons the video and then of course there was nothing else he could say except I’m guilty.

Simmons confessed to breaking into the lockers and stealing money for years from the students.

Simmons stole about $400.00 so far this year. There was no overall total posted of how much he stole over the years.

Pretty crappy pay out don’t you think, I think if I was going to ruin my career to be a thief, I think I would have to have a lot more than 400 bucks. I
For some reason to me 400 bucks just doesn’t seem to be worth it to me, but who am I to say. LOL..

Simmons has been employed with the Marion County Schools for 25 years with nothing negative in his employee file.

Co-Workers of course were very surprised that Simmons was the one responsible for all of the student’s money disappearing while at school.

A spokesman for Marion County Schools said Simmons has nothing negative in his employee file after

Now on the flip side of this video, the school officials made a public statement that they were not allowed to record video in the locker rooms because of privacy.
And right now they are not saying anything about what the repercussions could be for the students responsible for video recording the locker room.

I personally think the school would have to have a policy in place that state a student cannot record video in the locker rooms before they could take any action. It really does not matter what the school policy states, the students were no acting as an agent of the school.

The students were fed up with being robbed while at school.

Anyway, this could become a mess for cell phones in school. It would be interesting to know what the school policy states about cell phones in general in school.

Anyway, I think the students responsible for this should get a pat on the back.
Good job Guys (and Gals)

It’s about time we stand up and unite and let criminals know they are not going to be allowed to make us a victim of a crime any more.

More teachers in the news…This time it’s about drugs.

Over in Polk County…

Just a side note here, has any one noticed the amount of crime in Polk County? It seems that every single day there is something making national attention in Polk. I think if I were a criminal I would find a new place to reside, the Sheriff of Polk doesn’t seem to tolerate crime in his county.

Anyway, this time 2 Polk County teachers were arrested on drug charges Friday.

Bradley Michael Goldsmith, 25

Jessica A. Murray, 26

They taught at Donald E. Woods Alternative School. An investigation was started after a student was found with marijuana. The school resource officer found the marijuana in the student’s jacket pocket during a routine search for drugs.

Of course an investigation was conducted and where did that investigation lead the detectives? Yep, right to Goldsmith and Murray.

It appears that Goldsmith and Murray were living together. Murray and her boyfriend, Jason West, was kind enough to allow Goldsmith to live with them.

They admitted to smoking marijuana socially.

What the heck is smoking marijuana socially? Does that mean they only smoked when they bought it everyday? Or was it on some sort of schedule that Tuesday, Thursday and Friday night and all day Saturday? What does that mean? When did marijuana become a social event?

But during the search of the residence they could a bong, several glass pipes, and a marijuana grinder and of course they found marijuana.

All three of them were arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail and the charges consist of possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for drug use.

Ouch!!! I need to look up the maintaining a dwelling for drug use charge, if nothing else it sounds pretty bad.

If I’m not mistaken there was a person charged in Clearwater a few months ago for maintaining a dwelling for drug use and that house was taken and turned into some type of community center. That would suck to lose your home over marijuana. But if people are stupid enough to violate the law and even more stupid to believe they will never get caught, then they deserve whatever happens to them.

Once again those responsible for the education of children sadly involved children in their illegal activities.

Wonder if the child is going to be charged with possession of marijuana.

Sex, Drugs and Teachers

We hear about all the different sex schemes with teachers all the time and how they “fall in love” with their students or run off to Mexico for the purpose of having sex with their teen lover or read about the multiple charges teachers are being charged with in relation to their sexual relationship with their students.

This story is a little different.

This time we are going to hear about a dope dealing teacher.
That's right a dope dealing teacher.

A second grade teacher has been arrested in Hillsborough County. The teacher was arrested as she left school.

I presume they wanted to make the incident as less stressful as they could for the children. I honestly don’t know if I would have trusted her another minute with a second grader and would have probably arrested her on the spot as soon as I had a warrant in hand. But the Sheriff’s Office elected to wait until the end of the school day to arrest her.

Please note that is not in anyway meant to be against the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. I think they do an awesome job; I just wanted to state my own opinion of what I would have done.

Anyway, back to the story…

Valerie Elaine Sabarese, 28, allegedly sold 0.3 grams of crack cocaine and 0.3 grams of heroin to a detective. The sale took place at a convenience store on Fowler Ave.
Sabarese had been under investigation for some time and now has finally been arrested.

There was no booking information available at the time I made this post, I will check the sheriff’s site often to see if we can get a pic of her to post.
