The remains are Caylee Marie Anthony.
Dr. Jan Garavaglia, Medical Examiner for Orange County announced on Dec. 19 2008 that DNA test have confirmed the skeletal remains found on Dec. 11 belonged to Caylee Anthony.
Dr. Garavaglia reported that the bones where not intact and there was no trauma to the bones prior to death. The doctor said the caused of death would be listed as homicide by undetermined means.
The remains were recovered less than half a mile away from the girl’s home.
It has been reported that the utility worker called the Orange County Tip line on Aug. 11, 12, and 13, 2008, and told police to search the site were the remains were found.
Police say a deputy was sent out to the area on the 13, but found nothing.
Police are investigating the calls to determine if the tips were handled properly. Police say the area was searched in the past, but the grounds were flooded.
Police say they will continue to investigate Caylee's murder, but after following up on more than five thousand tips, the mystery of where is Caylee is finally over.
The medical examiner also reported that according to policy the first person notified was Casey Anthony.
Casey Anthony has remained in jail since July 2008.
Casey still claims she had nothing to do with her daughter's disappearance.
